Inexpensive Wedding Favors by Jayne Waldorf

October 13th, 2008 by galainvi

Your wedding favors are an important part of your wedding day. It is your way of making a gesture of thanks to your guests for sharing the happiest day of your life. It will also provide our guests with a lasting souvenir of your day (provided your favors aren’t the perishable kind) that will remind them of your wedding day every time they use it.(if the favour you choose is a useful one)
Prior to purchasing your favors you will need to decide if you are going to give a wedding favour to everyone or one per couple. This will depend on the size of your budget and what sort of favor you have in mind, also how many people are coming to the wedding will make a difference. If you are having a small intimate wedding then you may be able to splash out a bit, unlike if there are a lot of people attending it just may not be possible to be extravagant and you may have to settle for the less expensive favors.

Candles are amongst the less expensive favors, an added touch could be personalised ribbon tied around the candle in a pretty bow. The ribbon may include your wedding date and names.

An example of practical wedding favors is picture frames. The guests can use these to hold a photo of the Bride and Groom if they wish,or any other photo they like.Finding suitable frames should be fairly easy as they come in such a wide variety. If you purchase plain photo frames you can be sure that these will work with the décor in any of the guests homes although you may prefer to give frames that match the theme of the wedding or ones that have hearts on to represent your love.

Candy is another inexpensive favor but if you are looking to give a keepsake then candy is really not suitable. If you want to make your own favors you could purchase some pretty ribbon and fabric. The fabric will need to be cut into small squares and a few small pieces of candy put into each one. Then you just need to pull the corners together and tie the ribbon around. A wedding I went to recently had the same idea but used sugared almonds instead of candy. An alternative to the fabric is to purchase small tins and put the candy in them. If you order your candy in bulk you should get it quite a bit cheaper. Candy bars with your name and date of wedding on and also perhaps a photo of the bride and groom can also be quite affordable if ordered in bulk and if you don’t have more than one design for the wrapper.

Another great favour idea is packets of vegetable seeds or flower seeds .These are very affordable to buy but you may like to add the personal touch and make your own. Tie different packets of seeds up with personal ribbon or put them into little pots that you can decorate.

A nice inexpensive favour is a pen with the bride and groom’s names on and the date of the wedding, not only are these useful but they make a great keepsake as well.

Five Things to Consider When Picking Wedding Music by Rafi Michael

October 13th, 2008 by galainvi

Music is one of the things that can make a wedding a total success or failure. Usually, a wedding DJ plays music in nuptial ceremonies to entertain the couple getting married along with their guests. In Toronto weddings, music plays a big role in entertaining the guests and keeping the service lively. Therefore, one needs to employ much care in picking music for their Toronto wedding.
When couples choose music for their Toronto weddings, they should focus on unique music that is relevant to the occasion. This helps to break the monotony because many wedding DJs, including Mississauga DJs play the same music at different events. One should ask the wedding DJ to play their taste of music. To make it easier for the DJ, the couple can come up with a personalized play list. They can also ask their guests to request for special songs, either as dedications or purely for entertainment. This ensures that the guests are entertained the entire time. In a Toronto wedding, the event planner may also give the wedding DJ a selection of appropriate music to play.

When picking music to be played at the ceremony, the bride and groom may choose to pick songs that have sentimental attachments to them. This could be songs they heard on their first date or the first song that they danced to together. This will create an atmosphere of familiarity for both the couples and the guests who know them on a personal level.

Another factor to consider is appropriateness. The music should be appropriate. One should consider the age of the different guests who will attend the Toronto wedding. There can be the elderly, middle aged, the youth and/or children. Different age groups prefer different kinds of music. The event planner should ensure that the wedding DJ plays appropriate music that will not make the guests feel uncomfortable. Furthermore, if the ceremony is taking place in church, the wedding DJ should take care not to play event music that is inappropriate for church nuptials. The same applies for traditional nuptials. This entails the DJ being versatile regarding various types of music.

The event music should also show the love that the bride and groom share. When the bride and groom sit down to pick music for their special day, they should include songs that reflect the emotions in their relationship. The guests should be able to relate to the couple’s feelings towards each other when they listen to the music.

Lastly, in Toronto weddings the Toronto DJ should play different kinds of music for the different phases of the ceremony. They should play appropriate music when the guests are coming in, during the Toronto wedding ceremony and during the reception. This helps to create the appropriate atmosphere for that particular phase of the ceremony. It also ensures that the music flows with the mood of the event in every level. Overall, the purpose of the music at any nuptials is to entertain. This is something that most professional wedding DJs know and understand.

Stunning Weddings and Bridal Gowns by Christa Kowalczyk

October 13th, 2008 by galainvi

Brides and grooms of today come up with wedding themes to make their big day more personal, unique and extraordinary. And as more and more women are attracted to non traditional bridal gowns, the over-all figure of the bride as well as the wedding setting are considered in selecting the perfect bridal gown.
The wedding is the most treasured and significant event in a couple’s life. To make it all the more extraordinary and unique, the brides and grooms of today place their personal touches and ideas on their weddings by coming up with wedding themes. Themes may depend on the location of the wedding ceremony and they can harmoniously merge certain customary concepts with the couple’s own style and good taste.

For instance, if you’re a bride who loves royalty concepts or experienced life’s battle and came out trumps you can have a dream fairytale (or Cinderella) themed wedding. Wearing that stunning princess gown, everyone’s eyes will be glued on you as you walk down the aisle to meet your prince charming. A castle designed wedding cake as well as silver ornaments as wedding favors are perfect for this theme.

Some grooms and brides go for butterfly themed weddings as butterflies are an emblem of fresh beginnings and this makes these attractive creatures a terrific theme for the great event. Desserts such as cupcakes with butterfly-shaped toppings or a butterfly logo featuring the couple’s photo that can go with all other wedding pieces such as favors and invitations can turn a butterfly themed wedding impressive. Color themed events such as jade green weddings are preferred by many too. As the nature’s color, green blends perfectly for spring occasions especially weddings at exotic locales and garden sites. Green fruits like lemons can be gorgeously combined with flowers or set in cocktail glasses.

Undoubtedly, the bride is the focus of every wedding event as families and guests are all around her. It’s very critical therefore that you’re wearing a bridal gown that flawlessly fits your physique, personality, style, as well as your wedding theme and venue.

A lot of brides nowadays are fascinated with unconventional gowns. In recent times, they declare their marriage vows in modern designs including ivory, blue, and pink colors and in tea length bridal dresses. An ivory bridal gown has become a favorite yet only a small number of brides can do well with it. Ivory is perfect for dark-skinned or olive skinned brides while beige is a hit for fair skinned. Taffeta, tulle and brocades used to be the most well-liked fabrics for bridal dresses; however their application have come down today. Chiffon and organza are ideal for weddings held outdoors.

After you have decided on the bridal gown design, know if that design highlights your figure. Sure enough you can flaunt your good physique with modesty. A gown with sleeves that embraces your figure from neck down to ankle, suits best if you’ve got a slender body and curvatures to display. Gowns with big skirts and ruffled sleeves are a no-no if you wish to look slender as this will cause you to appear bigger. If you are a petite bride you ought to choose a v-neck or sweetheart gown which will create length making you look taller. Stay away from straight necklines because you will look shorter with them. You should also avoid straight necklines if you have square or wide shoulders. Except for slim and tall figured brides, you must shun bridal gowns with bias cut since they reveal the bulges and stress hips.

The venue of your wedding can inspire your gown design options too. Weddings held at beaches are typically intimate and informal. For this setting, a clear-cut dress made of light material like chiffon is perfect as the dress will sway along in the gentle wind. If you tie the knot in a church, you can have a broad selection of customary gown choices. However you need to think about your wedding’s whole formality. For an afternoon wedding in a church and a garden reception afterwards, you may go for a bridal dress that’s not too formal than if you’re saying “I do” in a sunset site with a formal banquet next. You can show off a strapless gown with short train and unfussy, elegant lines for the afternoon ceremony. A gown with a longer veil and train is ideal for the sunset ceremony.

Opting for your bridal gown is an exciting as well as vital decision you’ll take as regards to your wedding. And with your wedding gown selected as well as theme in place, you can have the time of your life on your big day!

Simple Wedding Dresses - Clean Lines and Beautiful

September 29th, 2008 by galainvi

Simple wedding dresses have not only gained in popularity, but in style, as well. The choices of designs to wear, and where they are being worn has changed, too.

A simple beach wedding dress is an obvious choice. If you are having a beach wedding, the sand tends to dirty the bottom and catch hold of the details on the hem of a wedding gown.

By choosing a simple and slightly raised hem line you won’t need to worry about that. It will sway slightly above the sand and remain clean and dry. You could even go with a tea length dress to make sure it will stay clean.

Destination weddings have been growing yearly. They provide a perfect opportunity to have a gorgeous location with a gorgeous and simple wedding dress.

When you travel to your destination, you will need to pack your wedding gown. To minimize creasing, pack with tissue paper, pick a non creasing fabric and plan to have a service available at your destination for pressing your dress if needed. Most hotels, resorts or wedding planners will be happy to help you with this.

A Hawaiian wedding dress offers many choices, as well. The traditional dress is a holoku, a long sleeved, yoked, loose fitting, floor length dress without a waistline. This is still used in Hawaii often. It is a beautiful and traditional option.

There are also many updated versions for Hawaiian wedding gowns. Most are an easy to transport fabric, and carry a soft jacquard or printed pattern on them.

You will also see many sarong wedding dresses, especially at the beach. You can do a colorful and printed option or choose a beautiful hand painted silk sarong. These will often be left white for the ceremony and then painted or dyed to wear when you get home.

If cost is a factor, going with a simple design will decrease the price drastically. Using a less expensive fabric, purchasing on the internet and using less embellishments will all provide cost savings.

You can search through some of your favorite department stores. You already love the designs, and usually in the summer, you can find many wonderful, simple choices for a wedding. You may find, not only a bridal dress, but the bridesmaids, too.

Simple wedding dresses are popular for a reason. They can be dressed up or down, they generally are less expensive, they tend to travel well, but most importantly they are exquisitely beautiful. Look around, try some on and I think you will agree!

Outdoor Wedding Ideas - 3 Ideas For A Location

May 3rd, 2008 by galainvi

Outdoor wedding ideas are essential for throwing a successful wedding outside. A lot of time and hard work goes to planning a wedding, and an outdoor wedding can pose additional challenges.

There are things to consider like whether to have the ceremony in a church or not, if the weather will cooperate and how to coordinate everything associated with having a wedding outdoors.

Spring and fall are great times for an outside wedding as the weather is usually not too hot or cold in most regions. In fall you also get to take advantage of the beautiful backdrop that the season brings.

There will be many loose ends to tie up that you wouldn’t have with an indoor wedding. For example, if you are having your ceremony outside the transition to the reception will have to be coordinated.

A tent will also most likely be required, and caterers often have specific needs for working outside. For reasons like these, brides often turn to the services of wedding planners for help in coordinating the day.

The money you spend on hiring a wedding planner will pay off quickly during the days leading up to the wedding and on the wedding day itself.

One of the most important parts of an outdoor wedding is the location. Here are three ideas for a location.

Backyard

Have a big backyard or know of someone who does? A backyard wedding can be a lot of fun, and it could also potentially save you some money by not having to pay a site fee.

There are a few requirements, however, when thinking about a backyard wedding.

First, the backyard in question has to be big enough to hold all of your guests. Second, there is the chance that the backyard could incur some damage, and third, you have to make sure there is enough room for all of your guests to park.

The Beach

Getting married with you toes in the sand has become a very popular option. If you live near a beach, this might be the perfect option for you.

Destination weddings have become very popular, so even if you don’t live near a beach you can always fly to the Caribbean or Hawaii with your close friends and family to get married.

Try looking for resorts that offer beach weddings. They will have packages that include your ceremony in the sand which will help to avoid the extra work of obtaining a permit.

Public Parks

There are many great public parks that can provide the perfect atmosphere for your wedding. Look online for parks in your area that might be good locations for your wedding.

The fees are usually relatively inexpensive. Just make sure you file for all necessary permits and find out what rules you need to follow for your wedding. Some parks have strict rules especially if they are historic sites.

Gardens, arboretums, farms and national historic sites are all outdoor wedding ideas that you can research in your area.

Diamond Engagement Rings Throughout History by Jonathon Blocker

February 14th, 2008 by galainvi

The scenario is played out thousands of times a day throughout the world; young men present diamond engagement rings to the ladies they desire to marry. This tradition, which dates back centuries in one form or another, has many variations. Nonetheless, diamond engagement rings continue to be a symbol of betrothal in much of the Western world.
Where It Started

Diamonds themselves have been available to ordinary people only for the past 150 years or so, although the idea of diamond engagement rings - without the diamonds - goes back much further - almost 800 years, in fact.

It was in 1215 that Pope Innocent III, presiding over the Fourth Lateran Council, decreed that there should be a longer waiting period between betrothal and marriage. These rings consisted of plain bands worn by both the man and the woman, and depending on socio-economic class of the couple, were made of gold, silver, bronze or iron. Although precious gems would have been unavailable to peasants in any case, laws were in place to make sure only those of “high rank” were allowed to wear such treasures.

Diamond Engagement Rings?

Although not used for betrothal, diamonds were mounted in rings as far back as Roman times. The earliest example of diamond engagement rings (which were actually wedding rings) date from 1477, the year in which Archduke Maximilian I of the House of Hapsburg married Marie of Burgundy. However, the practice of a man presenting his intended with a diamond engagement ring was only became common as the result of a major sales campaign by a huge, transnational corporation.

De Beers

Today, the DeBeers company controls about half of the worldwide diamond market. It was founded in 1888 by Cecil Rhodes, British-South African business magnate for whom the nation of Rhodesia (now Zambia and Zimbabwe) was named. It was the middle of the 20th century when a creative ad executive created the most memorable catch-phrase of all time: “A Diamond is Forever.” Since the 1950s, average working men have been spending about two months’ salary (the standard rule of thumb, according to the industry) for diamond engagement rings.

There was a similar marketing attempt by the U.S. diamond jewelry industry to create a market for similar diamond engagement rings for men by creating a “historical precedent” (which never existed). The effort was not successful, although the campaign did eventually result in a market for men’s diamond wedding rings and “his and hers” sets.

How Much?

Even today, diamond engagement rings come in a wide range of prices. Some can be purchased for as little as $300 - $400, while others can run as high as five and six figures. Setting, as well as size, clarity, color and quality of cut are all determining factors in the price of diamond engagement rings.

Sexy Plus Size Bridal Lingerie - It’s About Damn Time! by Vy Bridges

February 14th, 2008 by galainvi

For waaaay too long, plus size women were completely overlooked as a viable market for lingerie manufacturers. Sexy and plus size bridal lingerie? No such product existed. What were they thinking? Never mind, I know what they were thinking, and so do you. I just wish I knew who to thank since now plus size brides can be seen as the sexy goddesses they are.
I’m thrilled for all the current and future plus size brides who can wear sexy lingerie on their honeymoon, but I have to admit I can’t help but be a little bitter that it came far too late to benefit me. But the good news is, it’s not too late for you!

In decades past, the hardest thing about plus size lingerie was finding any. There are now so many choices in sexy, exotic and erotic plus size bridal lingerie, the hardest part is limiting your selections to what your budget will allow! Just don’t be fooled by those “one size fits all” labels. They lie.

The second best thing that’s come along for plus size women is the good ol’ Internet. By expanding our shopping choices to global-wide, we’re able to find a wide variety of plus size clothes, including sexy plus size bridal lingerie.

Your bridal lingerie consists of not only what you’ll wear on the honeymoon, but also what you’ll wear beneath your wedding gown on the day of the wedding. For your wedding day lingerie you may want to choose comfort over style. You don’t want to go through the whole wedding feeling pinched or uncomfortable. You might consider a lacy camisole with a garter belt and stockings for a touch of style without having to give up comfort.

You’ll probably want to purchase your wedding day lingerie well in advance so you can see how they feel under your wedding dress. Be sure your bra is supportive and comfortable, and allows for freedom of movement. (Remember you’ll be dancing and hugging and throwing the bouquet!)

Your choices online for sexy plus size bridal lingerie are virtually endless. Do you want elegant and demure? What about something racy? How about downright sexy and hot? Or maybe you feel a little naughty and nasty? You can be anything you want to be, and you can find sexy plus size lingerie to fit every occasion with a quick Google search.

Popular items in sexy plus size bridal lingerie include Rumba panties with a matching lacy chemise, lace body stockings and perhaps the most favorite, the baby doll. Many baby dolls come with a built-in bra to shape and support and the saucy little skirt gently flows around mid thigh. A scoop neck or V-neckline adds to the appeal, as do layers of feathers or ruffles. Plus size women look great in baby dolls.

Whatever your mood, whatever your desire, and finally at last, whatever your size - you can find sexy, seductive lingerie. And you can find it online, where you can browse to your heart’s content in the comfort of your own home. Many brides do almost all their wedding shopping online and their numbers are rising every year.

The most important thing in choosing sexy plus size bridal lingerie is that you feel good about what you’re wearing. You look even better to him when you’re pleased with yourself.

5 Shopping Tips For Weddings by Angelique Ellerman

February 14th, 2008 by galainvi

Try to shop earlier for gifts. This one step is often the hardest to do with all those busy schedules, but this one step will not only make shopping less stressful, but also save you money and make shopping more enjoyable. Once you have the gift list available to you, start comparing prices, then go shopping when the prices are good instead of waiting till the last minute and getting stuck paying full price. Besides if you wait till the last minute you may not get exactly what you wanted to get for a gift and may end up settling for something less than originally planned.
Find Out and Pay Attention to What They Like, Want and Need When you pay attention to everyday comments like: “I bet this would look good in the living room” or “I sure could use something like this” you find that gift ideas are practically falling at your feet on a daily basis. The only hard part is remembering these ideas until the need arises to buy these gifts. That’s why planning ahead is so helpful, you won’t be caught off guard and when items go on sale you can take advantage of those savings. This way the bride and groom are getting something that they could really use and a helpful hint would be to check and make sure they haven’t already gotten the item before they announced the engagement. This is also a good way of avoiding duplicate gifts, by getting the happy couple something they may have forgotten they wanted and not being limited to the gift registries that everybody else is shopping from.

Shop Online The internet is a virtual never ending shopping mall. You can find everything nowadays right at the touch of your fingertips and the best part is there are always lots of deals out there to take advantage of. My personal favorite is to find personalized gifts on the internet. There are so many unique personalized gifts out there to help capture happy memories and they also make useful, one of a kind gifts to give to loved ones on days like wedding celebrations. But once again the gift has to be something he or she really wants or really needs so that way you know the gift will be appreciated. The best part of shopping on line is you never have to leave the comfort of your home and you can have most items delivered right to your home and eliminate having to run around and find the perfect gift. Plus gift registries can also be done online and sometimes cover a wider range of gift ideas than just being limited to one or two stores.

Get Tickets to an Event or Plan an Evening out for after the Wedding This kind of gift creates lasting memories and also gives the happy couple something to look forward to. Once the bride and groom get back from their honeymoon, give them a romantic evening for them to look forward to. Especially if they are a young couple and just starting out, they will be financially strapped for awhile, so what better way to express your congratulations than by giving them tickets to a favorite event, show or just a nice dinner. This breaks up the day to day monotony for the new couple and will be greatly appreciated once the honeymoon euphoria has worn off.

Plan Some Kind of Getaway or Make Honeymoon Plans Find out if the bride and groom have honeymoon plans and offer the honeymoon as the gift if you really want to spoil the new couple. Or present them with some kind of vacation plans for down the road. It doesn’t matter if the vacation is a small weekend getaway or an elaborate trip planned just for two, this gift will be warmly welcomed by both him and her. Plus planning a trip can often be done online and there are a lot of web sites out there geared towards helping you find the perfect getaway for a great price. Again the couple will have something to look forward to and what’s better than spending quality time with your sweetie ?

No matter what gift you’re shopping for you can save yourself a lot of stress, time and money by following these few simple ideas. Besides nobody wants to be all stressed out trying to find the perfect gift for our loved ones so just remember to make shopping for gifts easier on you and pretty soon shopping won’t be such a hassle anymore. Gifts are always the best when they are something that the receiver truly wants and when they come from the heart. Happy Shopping :-)

Overseas Wedding Ceremonies, costs, types and legalities - the truth! (Part

February 14th, 2008 by galainvi

We are often asked for average wedding ceremony costs and, as you can imagine, it’s quite difficult to give a reply as ceremonies vary from country to country and from couple to couple. Your dreams of the perfect wedding are not going to be the same as anyone else’s and wedding planners the world over have to take that into consideration when designing each ceremony.
Usually a wedding planner or venue will have a basic idea of a ceremony which can then be adapted to suit each couple, however, depending on your budget, you can of course have your wedding ceremony completely designed from scratch.

Weddings abroad are by their nature different from a wedding at home, and quite often the wedding couple decide to make the most of being away and either go completely low key and get married barefoot on the beach, or really push the boat out and have the lavish ceremony they probably couldn’t afford at home.

Beach weddings are very popular, especially for couples from countries which don’t get much sun (like the UK!). However you do have to take some things into consideration when planning a beach wedding. Many countries, especially in Europe, don’t allow legal weddings to take place outdoors, so if you have your heart set on a beach wedding in Europe check very carefully with your wedding planner that this is actually allowed. If it isn’t permitted in the country you wish to marry in you have a few choices - either change country to one which does allow legal beach weddings, have a legal ceremony where it is permitted in your chosen country and then have a blessing on the beach, or get married at home and then fly out to your chosen country and have a blessing on the beach. More and more couples are deciding not to compromise on the type of wedding they want and take one of those latter two options, choosing to have a non-legal ceremony in their ideal location, with the legal bit taking place elsewhere. Sometimes the guests have no idea the ceremony they are witnessing isn’t actually legal and sometimes they’ve been to both weddings, the choice, as always, is yours!

As you can imagine, a beach ceremony can be very inexpensive if you go for the basic option - from under $500 usd, depending on the country and wedding planner. However, as you can imagine, costs can go up to whatever you’re happy paying if you choose the full bells and whistles version.

Another popular overseas wedding ceremony is a tropical garden wedding, where you exchange your vows under a gazebo in a tropical garden setting. This is often the grounds of the lovely upmarket hotel or resort you’re staying in, or it can be a private garden - there are several private gardens in Hawaii with stunning backdrops which are used as wedding locations. Again, you will need to check the legalities of this with your wedding planner as many countries won’t allow legal wedding ceremonies outside, especially in Europe. It’s much easier in the USA and Canada because there the officiant is licenced, not the venue, which allows more scope for location.

A garden wedding makes a good wedding choice for couples who don’t relish the idea of sand in their shoes or prefer to have the “aisle” to the gazebo decorated and set out in advance, especially if there are several guests at the ceremony. Yet again, these ceremonies can be a lavish or as simple as you wish, either just the two of you with the wedding planner and photographer as your witnesses, or the “full monty” ceremony with all the trimmings but set outside and (hopefully) with sunshine. Garden weddings do tend to cost more than a beach ceremony, mainly due to having more to arrange, so average prices start from $500 usd for the ceremony, although they can go much higher!

So, we’ve covered the two most popular overseas wedding locations, next time we’ll go through a few more types of ceremony and the things you should think about before tying the knot abroad.
