Using Orchids at Your Wedding by Dave Henry

One of the most important parts of the wedding is the flowers and the process of choosing the correct ones for that special day. The flowers provide a statement of the couple and the future they will enjoy together. And of course, the beauty of flowers will lend an air of class and charm to the day. An arrangement of orchids for a wedding is a perfect choice due to the amazing number of different colors and varieties to choose from.

Orchids are very flexible and can used in a wedding in many ways. The bouquet would be the first way the orchid can be put to good use. The two standout features of an orchid for the bouquet are the scent and the color. These two distinguishing trademarks are big drawcards to choosing the best flowers because they will be in close proximity to one’s nose throughout the entire days’ proceedings. Because of this, a flower with an overpowering scent may not be viable due to the possibility of guests that suffer from allergies. What orchids stand for would be the second reason to choose them for a wedding. For example, red carnations stand for admiration and the daisy stands for innocence. The sunflower stands for devotion and the geranium stands for friendship. And the orchid stands for beauty and magnificence. As previously mentioned, the flowers at a wedding make a statement and the orchid will make a strong one. Orchids will highlight the fundamental meaning of a wedding, that being the relationship of the bride and groom and their future life together. As a wedding is a beautiful occasion, orchids are truly the only choice of flower.

Another way that orchids can be used at a wedding is as the centerpiece for the tables. As it is possible that some guests present could possibly have allergies, there are still many reasons that make orchids the best option as the flower for the centerpiece. The first is that orchids are very durable. Although sensitive to cold and can be bruised if dropped, they can withstand heat and lack of moisture for long periods – very good news for anyone planning a wedding during the summer. According to the species, orchids are also available at all times of the year. Another big advantage for the orchid being used for the centerpiece is the extraordinary height they can grow to. Some species can reach 32 inches (81 centimeters) which would certainly showcase the centerpiece.

Buying orchids in bulk is a great option. If the growers themselves are approached directly, then you’ll be able to save money by by-passing the middleman at the store. This would be very highly recommended if you have chosen to be your own wedding planner and will be using orchids for the bouquet, centerpiece and the other various decorations.
