Your Beach Wedding Dress by Angela Hardaway

Many people have the misconception that just because a couple is getting married on the beach, they should be dressed in untraditional clothing like a Hawaiian shirt for the groom and a short dress for the bride. This is simply not true. Just because a couple decides to marry on the beach does not mean that they should give up on their dream of wearing a big dress and a formal tuxedo. However, what should not happen is that the bride wears a huge formal gown and the groom shows up in a Hawaiian shirt with Khakis. This will make your wedding pictures look out of sync and look as if you didn’t plan for the occasion.

For those who are concerned about looking too formal at their beach wedding, a good option is having a beautiful sunset wedding. Sunset weddings on the beach create an aura of romance and formality. The pictures almost look like a portrait when taken at sunset on the beach. However, a day wedding on the beach can be even more picturesque and look like a postcard. The type of clothing that you wear to your beach wedding and the time of day that you get married really depend on the type of pictures that you want. If you prefer clear postcard pictures then a late morning or early afternoon wedding will be best. Noon will not work because the sun will be directly in your eyes and you will be squinting in your wedding pictures rather than looking radiant and beautiful.

If you would like to have both types of pictures incorporated into your wedding portfolio, then you may want to think about spending a little extra on photography so that you can have the photographer for a wider range of time. If it is winter in the Caribbean from November to February, the sun will generally set at around 6PM. If you book the photographer from 3:30 – 6:30PM, you will have a little of both in your wedding album. A wedding is generally a once in a lifetime event and you must try to get as much out of it as possible.
